How It Works:

PERFORM

Students will perform a prepared piece or section for the group, gaining valuable experience performing in front of other students and teachers.

GET COACHED

Students will receive supportive, focused feedback from APA music educators on areas such as musicality, performance readiness, stage presence, audience connection, and overall performance polish.

TRY IT AGAIN

Students will immediately put their coaching into action by performing again—giving them the opportunity to experience how even a few focused changes can strengthen a performance.

What Will Students Gain?

During the workshop, students will have the opportunity to:

🎵 Build confidence performing in front of others

🎵 Receive multiple perspectives from experienced music educators

🎵 Get focused coaching specific to their instrument or voice

🎵 Strengthen musical expression, stage presence, and performance skills

🎵 Practice responding to feedback and immediately applying it

🎵 Learn by watching other students perform and receive coaching

🎵 Learn from professional music educators modeling effective performance techniques

🎵 Identify specific areas to continue working on before their next performance

🎵 Students will also receive written feedback to take home and use as they continue preparing with their regular music teacher.

What we want students to leave thinking:

“I know what I'm doing well. I know what I want to improve. And I feel more prepared to perform.”

Who Is This Workshop For?

Ready for the Stage is open to APA music students ages 10+ who have a prepared piece or section they would like to perform and polish.

Students do not need to be participating in APA’s December concerts to attend. This can also be a great opportunity for students preparing for an audition, recital, school performance, competition, or another performance opportunity.

Because this is a small-group, performance-based experience, students should be ready to participate independently, follow group instructions, listen respectfully while others perform, and receive supportive feedback in a group setting.

You'll receive a beautifully wrapped gift, ready to put under your tree!
The deadline to order your add-on gift is December 10th, with pickup of the gift the week of December 16th-21st.
🎅 Our staff will email you to remind you to pickup your gift.

Don’t Have Your Performance Piece Selected Yet?

That’s okay! Students may register and reserve their workshop spot before their performance piece has been finalized.

Final piece information and a copy of the student’s music must be submitted to APA by October 25. Voice students who will perform with an accompaniment or karaoke track will also need to submit an MP3 by October 25. Additional submission instructions will be provided after registration.

Ready to Take the Stage?

Give your student the opportunity to practice more than their music—give them the opportunity to practice performing!
