APA presents Roald Dahlโ€™s Matilda the Musical Jr!

Rebellion is nigh in Matilda JR., a gleefully witty ode to the the anarchy of childhood and the power of imagination! This story of a girl who dreams of a better life and the children she inspires will have audiences rooting for the "revolting children" who are out to teach the grown-ups a lesson! Packed with high-energy dance numbers and catchy songs, Matilda JR. is a joyous romp! Join the cast TODAYโ€”because this show needs YOU!

This production is for performers ages 6-18 - no experience required. All who audition will receive a part!
*This is a closed casting call; you must sign up for the show first, then attend the audition!

The deadline to order your add-on gift is December 10th, with pickup of the gift the week of December 16th-21st.

Registration & Rehearsals:

The children are rising up. Join the revolt in this Broadway Junior adaptation of the Tony Award-winning hit! This junior version is designed for young performers ages 6-18.

Every Tuesday, Wednesday, & Thursday: 12:00-3:00 pm

*Please note that attendance is crucial to a production; be prepared to commit to the rehearsal schedule. Pre-schedule absences can be discussed with the director. Pre-existing conflicts will not effect role placement.

Audition Day: June 14th @ 12:00-4:00 pm

All students who register for the musical will get a part! However, auditioning is mandatory for the directorial staff to cast the show.
๐Ÿ“ Location: APA Franklin Studio, 10001 St. Martins Rd, Franklin WI

โณ Audition Schedule:

- 12:00 PM Dance Call: Students will learn a short portion of choreography from the show and perform it in small groups.

- 1:30 PM Acting Call: Students will be divided into groups to prepare and perform a short scene or monologue from the show
- 2:30 PM Vocal Auditions: Students will come in one at a time to perform their prepared audition piece.

Students may leave after their Vocal audition. After all auditions are completed, the artistic team will Cast the show.

โœจWHAT TO PREPARE:
- Students should fill out the *Cast Info Google Form, and prepare a memorized 1 minute song from a musical movie or Broadway show.
*The Cast Info Google Form will be emailed to you after you sign up!
- Bring your edited track on a phone/tablet or email your track beforehand to [email protected]

- Review the script samples, and audition choreography video Audition Sides (linked above)

**If you cannot make it to the audition, please send a video! We need the following: A video of your student singing a memorized 1 minute song from a musical movie or Broadway show, reading from a script sample, and the audition dance.

Musical Theatre Intensive Workshops!

In addition to signing up to join the musical - we also offer OPTIONAL, but recommended, Workshops to prepare for auditions, and a full musical theatre production. Our workshops are highly recommended for anyone who is wanting a larger part! You signup/purchase your workshop, on this page, at the same time as your Cast Registration.
*Students do not have to enroll in our Musical in order to participate in our workshops!

โŒš When: Monday, June 8th @ 5:00-6:00 (session 1) & 6:15-7:15 pm (session 2)
๐Ÿ’ฒ Cost: $30 for 1 Session, $50 for 2.

Class Breakdown:

In this session, students will develop the skills needed to be in a musical, focusing on acting technique, physical storytelling, core strength, vocal training, breathing techniques, and stamina for high-energy choreography.

Session Breakdowns:

Session 1: 5:00-6:00 pm | $30 (or $50 for Session 1 & 2)

Acting and Physicality Training (1 Hour): Work on Character development, vocal projection, and acting techniques using short script cuts from Matilda Jr.

Parent Performance: Apply all skills learned in a supportive, judgment-free setting.

Session 2: 6:15-7:15 pm | $30 (or $50 for Session 1 & 2)

Cardio & Core Training (25 min): Learn how to activate core muscles for stability while singing and dancing.

Choreography (35 min): Master dynamic movement, synchronization, and fast-paced choreography for a song from Matilda Jr.

Parent Performance: Apply all skills learned in a supportive, judgment-free setting.

This intensive is perfect for students looking to build endurance, technique, and confidence in musical theater!
